Alder Joy [link] He's a dork. Moving on.

Top:
Chance Gayle [link] Totally the coolest square-dancing dad around, and looks like a good person to talk to with a lot of things in common with Alder. Also Alder totally needs to talk to more guys in his life, for serious. His only male contact is Youngster Joey.
Branca [link] Branca seems to have a good head on her shoulders, and Alder respects people who take on difficult tasks, even if they get frazzled sometimes doing it. He's also impressed that she's actually a breeder and not a battler, and has a good reason for coming to the tournament. Also HER TEAM IS SO COOL. Also MAN SHE'S TALL.

Top Right:
Lane Reid [link] She's a researcher AND a Gym Leader AND crazy smart ET cetera. How could Alder not be impressed?
Dr. Thelonius Digitson [link] I'm not sure there's anything Alder could want more out of life than to grow up to be this man. He's so freaking COOL.

Bottom Right:
Cecilia Rossi (~strawberrytree's character; no link yet!): Cee is absolutely adorable, take my word for it, and even though her obsession with Alder makes him kind of uncomfortable, he loves teaching the ten-year-old about the world of Pokémon she's now a part of and seeing her light up about them.
Jilian Sinclaire [link] She's so cute and tiny and lovable that Alder can't help but want to teach her. Even though she may already know more about stats than he does (though, I mean, he's a researcher, so maybe not), he probably has a lot to show her about the friendships that form between people and Pokémon and how they learn from one another.

Bottom:
Z. Overbeck [link] I THINK THIS TRAINER NEEDS NO INTRODUCTION. Zoey and Alder have been friends since before either of them started journeying, and then, even though they went through long stints training on their own, they always met back up and kicked butt together--well, at least until Alder swore off kicking butt. They're still BFFs, though, and show it with teasing and unquestioned support of each other.

Bottom left:
Willow Kidd (mine; no link yet) Meet Alder's girrrrllllfrieeennnddd. They've known each other for a few years now, but she thought he was really dumb for a long time. Then she found out that he could be really cool when he needed to. Then she started falling for his sweet, boy-next-door ways. Then she was horrified at herself, but then she got over it. They've been dating for a year or two now, and she does her best to keep his naive little soul out of trouble.
